What do we do during a lesson?
We usually address most exercises from the lesson material during the lesson. The exercises are done together. The exercises and workflow is presented though a projector: the teacher is with you every step of the way. This allows you to do all the exercises that are addressed.
We also address the methods for using the software and explain why some habits are good and others are less powerful or efficient. This helps you to benefit from all the options the software has to offer.
Of course there is time to ask questions: not just you will benefit from them but your fellow students too. You will notice our teachers rarely are unable to answer a qeuestion. But we do like challenge.

Will I receive the software for the course?
No. The courses do not include the software, you will have to take care of that yourself. Of course you can buy it from us, have a look on this page for more information. Purchasing Adobe software is quite an investment, do call for more information.
TIP: If you are planning on using more than one Adobe application you could consider buying a suite. A suite combines many applications you might need. This could save you a lot of money.
The pricing in Europe is much higher than in the United States and it is not possible to order in the States if you are located in Europe. The import taxes makes the software extra pricy. It is possible though to find the software cheaper in another country within Europe.

Can I use a trial during the course?
Yes you can. Keep in mind though that a trial is available for one month only. You will have to buy the software after a month if you want to continue using it or you will have to uninstall it. Reinstalling the software is pointless since your computer will remember you have installed it before.
Personal training allows you to book a special schedule to fall within the trial month.

Where can I buy the software?
You can buy it from us. Look on the Adpobe software page for more information.

What kind of lesson material will I receive?
You will receive a few hundred pages of lesson material with step by step exercises and lots of ideas. This is material we developed ourselves and that keeps track of the changes in the graphics and web design world. It is always up to date.
The lesson material contains many extras that will greatly enhance your skills. Because of the extensive nature of the lesson material not all the exercises will be done in class. Many exercises are there for home assignment purposes. We strongly encourage you to go through these extras and to do as much homework as you can.

Do I have to do the homework during the course?
Yes you do if you want to receive the certificate. Students who do not do the homework will not receive the certificate since we have to make sure they deserve it.
Sending in the homework and succeeding for the test is necessary if you want to receive the certificate.
» Top
How much homework and practising time is involved?
You will probably spend about 8 hours per week on the homework. Of course this may vary as many students enjoy working so much that they will spend more time.
We do expect you to do the homework and to attend the lessons to be able to give you the certificate. The homework can be sent in by email so we can correct it and answer specific questions you may have.

Can I send in files if something doesn't work?
Yes you can do this during the course: you have a personal coach. You can even call and send email. make good use of this extra coaching: it is going to be very helpful.
You can send in your own work so we can look at it with the other students, too. We find this very helpful and the students benefit from one another's work and questions. Learning from one another is a creative incentive.

What do I need to attend a course?
Here is a list of what you need.
If you are in doubt, give us a call:

.
Application (the program)
The full application or the trial version.
A computer
You will need a functional computer to do the homework.
Graphic files
You will use files from us during class but most students enjoy using their own graphics to do the homework.
A compression application
WinZip for Windows (or the built-in compressor) or StuffIt for the Mac to compress files to send in the homework. You will not always need it but it is particularly useful during the Dreamweaver courses when you build websites and have to send in the correct website structure.
Acrobat Reader
Acrobat Reader or any other PDF reader to open the lesson material.
Time for homework
Enough time to do the homework. This is usually underestimated. But since our courses are rather intense you are going to need time to do the homework.

Which computer skills do I need to attend a course?
We expect the student to be familiar with the Windows or Mac operating system. You will have to know how to create and manage files and folders and how to launch and shut down applications.
You also have to know how to create, copy and paste files and how to rename them.
During the course you will sometimes need to save files on external devices such as DVD/CD or USB sticks or external hard drives.
You will have to know your way on the computer to quickly access locations such as the desktop. And you will be expected to know how to switch between applications.
It is a good thing if you know some computer shortcuts but we shall mention them during class and encourage you to use them. This is to help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome: once you start using graphics applications there will be more mouse clicks than ever before. Better make good use of the available shortcuts to prevent harm.
